The Yellow Monkey
An Inspiration From Shanghai
This extravagant gin and tonic has been created for us by Dario Gentile from the Jing´an Shangri-La in Shanghai. Into a chilled, pure crystal glass, pour 50 ml of Monkey 47. Add cubes of clear ice together with some pistils of Iranian saffron. Stir for 15 seconds to allow the saffron to release its aroma and color for another 30 seconds. Add 90 ml of tonic water together with two drops of grapefruit bitter. As a garnish, squeeze and add in a thin grapefruit peel. The complexity of Monkey 47 and the flavor of true saffron accompanied with a hint of citrus and grapefruit transform this gin and tonic into a true and unique Yellow Monkey.
