Peachy’s

Celebrate in Chinatown (New York)

Welcome to Peachy’s – No Photos, No Fighting. The message conveyed by the neon sign above the door seems reasonable enough, and we did our best to act accordingly during our last visit – except for the part about photos, of course. This bar is just too remarkable not to be captured on film for everyone else to see. It’s probably the combination of sophistication and attention to detail that immediately puts you under its spell. Copious plant life hangs from the ceiling, and the sabertooth-tiger wallpaper serves as a fierce and fitting backdrop to an undulating neon dragon.

Peachy’s belongs to the restaurant Chinese Tuxedo, which is known for pleasing palates just like the excellent drinks do downstairs. The cocktails, which often feature the usual fruity aromas, plenty of colour, and a hint of the exotic Far East, are served in vessels that don’t always fit the description of a typical glass. Anyone up for a beverage in a Buddha? Giving his belly a rub is supposed to bring good luck, after all – but that’s not the only reason why you should definitely pull up a chair at Peachy’s the next time you’re in New York. Simply put, it’s a special kind of place we’ve been fortunate enough just to visit. On that note, cheers!
