L’Aiglon, Singapore

Monkey in an Eagle’s Nest

The name L’Aiglon dates back to the long-awaited heir to Napoléon’s throne, Napoléon Bonaparte, who also became known as “The Eaglet” (L’Aiglon). The L’Aiglon bar in central Singapore has little that resembles an eagle’s nest. Its ambience is more a blend of Parisian chic with Asian flair and it has countless stories to tell. Stories that L’Aiglon’s owner, Pierre-Emmanuel Plassart, collected on his extensive travels around the world as a fashion photographer and film-maker and, with meticulous attention to detail, transformed into reality as he achieved his dream owning a bar. L’Aiglon is famous for its gin drinks, and as the “son of a monkey”, our Monkey 47 has also found a nest here to inhabit. However, the bar is also renowned for its rare Champagnes and whiskeys, which the bar manager, Louis Tan Chuan Ming, uses to dream up exceptional cocktails that are as classic as they are creative, circling your every sense like an eagle soaring high in the sky.
