PDT, an acronym for Please Don't Tell, is the hot dog joint for grown-ups. Well actually, it’s the cocktail lounge annex to Crif Dogs, an East Village hot dog joint known for its hot dogs and a vintage phone booth – the secret entrance that grants access to a cocktail wonderland. PDT is surely one of those secret New York hotspots that you either accidently stumble upon or someone from the in-crowd tells you about. Please Don’t Tell is a small bar that is reminiscent of an old-fashioned speakeasy, and it is known for exceptional cocktails created by Jim Meehan, who has been well known to connoisseurs, mixologists, and other barflies for quite some time. Meehan creates irresistible, original cocktails, such as an old-fashioned one made from bacon-infused bourbon and maple syrup. Another is a gin-and-lavender mint tea-based punch (see recipes) called After Nine, named after the famous After Eight thin mints which feature chocolate and mint, just like this drink (and, of course, Monkey 47).
