Recently voted amongst the world’s top ten in the “Best New International Cocktail Bar” category at the Tales of the Cocktail® awards in New Orleans (the Oscars of the international bar industry), and he’s already made it onto our homepage. For Volker Seibert and his team, the reasons to celebrate just keep on coming. Seibert, a visionary taste creator, conceived the ideal location for this himself over a year ago at the Classic Bar & Liquid Kitchen in Cologne. As the name implies, not only are classic recipes used here, but new taste sensations are also formulated, created and put the test. To describe the diversity and selection of drinks on the menu, all we really need to do at this point is give you its title: The fine composition of mixery drinks. It includes not only classic cocktails but also self-developed creations, all of which embody the bar’s own philosophy: the passion for a cultivated cocktail culture. An environment in which our monkey also feels very much at home and is honoured by Seibert in a special composition – a harmonious Crusta variation in which our Monkey 47 is fused with Sicilian blood orange schnapps and then balanced with fresh lemon juice and blood orange syrup. To enhance its presentation, the drink is served with a sugar rim that is decorated with orange and lemon peel and garnished with lavender blossom. A true delight for all the senses.
We’re already looking forward to our next visit to Cologne, which is sure to include one or two of Volker Seibert’s cocktails. And to be perfectly honest, the ground pork and cheese on freshly baked rolls are a delight unto themselves. Cheers!
